YAMUNANAGAR: Alleging harassing at the hands of district administration during the past few days, ultrasound centre owners in Yamunanagar went on strike on Saturday. The ultrasound owners went on strike on the call of district unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

There are 47 ultrasound centres registered in Yamunagar, all of these stopped work on Saturday.
"District authorities have right to take action against violators, but their action becomes illogical and raises suspicion over their intention when doctors are harassed at slightest excuse. Secondly, the authorities paint everybody with the same brush over the issue of sex determination tests," said Anil Aggarwal, district president, IMA.
"There have been several instances in the previous week where officials of the health department and district administration harassed the ultrasound centre owners and staff. Their objections against ultrasound owners were ridiculous. In one case, they blew the matter out of proportion when the signboard of an ultrasound centre was found little skewed. In another case, they created hue and cry when a doctor was not wearing an apron," alleged the agitating doctors.
"We have no bad intentions. We act according to rules," said the Yamunanagar civil surgeon Dr V P Maan about the action by the health department against the ultrasound centres in the town.
